Set stock on new variants
New variants are created with 0 inventory on purpose: nothing can be sold before you decide it can. When a Create new variants job finishes, the results screen offers the follow-up:
- Type a starting quantity, for example
10 - Pick the location (your primary shipping location is preselected)
- Press Set stock
The app sets that quantity on exactly the variants the job just created, and nothing else. Existing variants keep their stock untouched.
There is also an optional checkbox for the variants that were relabeled with the new option’s first value: leave it off (default) to keep their current stock, turn it on only if you want them overwritten with the same quantity.
If you skip this step
Section titled “If you skip this step”Nothing bad happens:
- Products that track inventory show the new variants as sold out until you assign stock, from this screen or in the Shopify admin later
- Products that do not track inventory can sell the new variants immediately, and there is nothing more to do
Variants whose inventory is not tracked are skipped and counted in the result message.
